After the selection of the new government at the end of 2009, the security situation in Lebanon has improved drastically making the nation one of the main tourist destination in 2010. Tripoli is becoming safer after the army redeployment in November 2008.In general, Tripoli is safe and people are always willing to help and assist tourists. In July 2008 there has been skirmishes between Sunnis and Alawites of Tripoli. The army mobilised into town and controlled the situation.
