Buses depart from Yangon to Kyaikhto town from early morning until around 2:30pm during the non-rainy season there are probably more. The journey takes around four and a half hours, and costs 7,000 kyat.
It is possible to travel to Kinpun, at the base of Kyaiktiyo mountain, on the same bus Kinpun is roughly six miles from Kyaikhto. Most people travel to the area to climb the mountain, and there is no real reason to stay in Kyaikhto as opposed to Kinpun.
