University of Crete
The University of Crete (http://www.uoc.gr) is the leading higher education institution on the island of Crete. The University was established in 1973 and operates under the supervision of the State. The seat of the University is in Rethymno, with Heraklion hosting the School of Sciences and Engineering and that of Health Sciences.

Localers and visitors can climb on a 50 foot rock at the suburb of karteros, east of heraklion. safety equipment is provided, but one can use his own gear too.
